Bead Peeps Swap N Hop Reveal
Time for the 2017 Bead Peeps Swap N Hop Reveal!
This go round, my partner is the talented Deb Fortin of Mohti Studios.
Deb sent me a gorgeous bronze clay focal she created and an amazing assortment of beads: Jasper, Amethyst, Labradorite, Bronzite, several types of glass and so much more.
This color palette is definitely my style. I don’t normally work with brass, but the focal is truly lovely. I immediately knew I wanted to do a statement necklace, and the design came together very quickly.
I strung the various types of beads on silver ball headpins, keeping a single bead type per pin. The focal itself was strung with two of the teardrop amethyst beads. Then it was all combined on bronze wire with brass spacers and a pewter Mykonos tube bead as a central accent. I kept the back simple with just basic black suede cord and sliding knots so I can adjust the length. I really love how it came out.
I also used a few of the left over beads to make some earrings. The first pair combined pyrite rounds and labradorite ovals with embossed copper. The second used vintage brass drops and some of the bronzite beads.
That’s all for this swap. It was a great time working with all these amazing materials. Be sure to check out the other participants in the list below.

wow that is a statement necklace. I love how you got all the beads to work together so well. A rather Egyptian- looking result. I love your asymmetrical earrings. they are something I do, switching out stones at each end. so glad you had fun with what I sent .
Statement piece INDEED! Wow. I saw your description before I saw the picture and was having a hard time figuring out how the ball headpins came into play. It’s wonderful! And the shape of that first pair of earrings is so fun!! Great job with this challenge.
